SCIENCE CITY OF MUÑOZ — The Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech) recognized the vital role of women in agriculture and farm mechanization as it launched its 2026 National Women’s Month celebration.
This year’s observance carries the theme “Lead Like the Babaylans, Filipinas!”, highlighting women’s leadership and influence in shaping communities and advancing agricultural development.
PHilMech Director and Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System Chair Dionisio Alvindia delivered the message of appreciation during the kickoff program held at the agency’s main office in Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija.
The opening activity was organized by the PHilMech GAD Secretariat and Technical Working Group, led by GAD Executive Committee Chair Nelson Santiago and GAD Focal Person Bezt Gee Magararu.
Throughout March, the agency has lined up several activities in support of the campaign of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), themed “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society.”
Among the highlights are the Women and Everyone (WE) Concert for a Cause and WE Talks, which aim to raise funds for Home for the Girls in Palayan City, Nueva Ecija.
The annual Women’s Month celebration, led nationwide by the PCW, honors women’s exceptional skills, resilience, and contributions that help strengthen communities and drive national development.
