PHilMech recognizes women’s vital role in agriculture, mechanization

SCIENCE CITY OF MUÑOZ, Nueva Ecija – The Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech) highlighted the significant role of women in the agriculture and mechanization sectors during the launch of its 2026 National Women’s Month celebration. The celebration, themed “Lead Like the Babaylans, Filipinas!”, was officially launched through a kickoff activity held at the PHilMech main office in Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija. PHilMech Director and Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System Chair Dionisio Alvindia emphasized the important contributions of women in advancing agricultural development and mechanization in the country. The program was spearheaded by the Gender and Development Executive Committee led by Chair Nelson Santiago and GAD Focal Person Bezt Gee Magararu, together with the GAD Secretariat and Technical Working Group. As part of the month-long celebration, PHilMech organized various activities supporting the Philippine Commission on Women’s campaign “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society.” Among the key activities are the Women and Everyone (WE) Concert for a Cause and WE Talks, which aim to raise funds for the Home for the Girls in Palayan City, Nueva Ecija. The annual National Women’s Month celebration led by the Philippine Commission on Women recognizes the important contributions, skills, and dedication of women in building stronger communities and promoting inclusive development.
