The Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries (PCAF) is set to host the 11th National Agriculture and Fisheries Volunteers’ Day (NVD) on March 26, 2026, in Parañaque City, highlighting the essential role of volunteers in shaping inclusive and responsive policies in the agri-fishery sector.
As PCAF’s flagship event, the annual NVD recognizes the dedication and contributions of volunteer-partners who support the programs and initiatives of the Department of Agriculture (DA). The celebration is expected to gather members of the Agricultural and Fishery Councils (AFCs), National Sectoral Committees (NSCs), DA officials, regional representatives, partner institutions, and stakeholders nationwide.
With the theme “Your Voice, Their Future,” this year’s event emphasizes the importance of participatory governance and active stakeholder engagement in improving the lives of Filipino farmers and fisherfolk. Volunteers play a critical role through consultative platforms such as the NSCs and AFCs, ensuring that grassroots concerns are heard and reflected in policies and development programs.
PCAF Executive Director Bernadette De Los Santos underscored the value of volunteerism, noting that the commitment of these partners strengthens governance and helps align agricultural initiatives with the real needs of communities.
The event will also feature an inspirational message from Ms. Billie Dumaliang, Co-founder and Advocacy Director of the Masungi Georeserve Foundation, who is widely recognized for her work in environmental conservation and sustainable land management.
A highlight of the celebration will be the recognition of outstanding consultative bodies across the country, with around 80 awards to be presented in acknowledgment of their contributions.
As the primary consultative arm of the DA, PCAF continues to foster collaboration among government, civil society, and industry players. The NVD not only celebrates volunteerism but also reinforces a shared commitment to empower communities, improve productivity, and sustain growth in the agriculture and fisheries sectors.
Through this gathering, PCAF unites its partners in honoring the spirit of volunteerism and strengthening the collective voice that drives progress in the agri-fishery sector.
