DA launches appointment system for P20 rice sales in Quezon City

MANILA – The Department of Agriculture has introduced an appointment system for the distribution of PHP20-per-kilo rice at the Bureau of Animal Industry in Quezon City.

According to DA Assistant Secretary Genevieve Guevarra, the system is designed to improve efficiency and prevent long queues during rice distribution.

The Food Terminal Inc. (FTI), a government-owned corporation under the DA, said that while a limited number of walk-in buyers will still be accepted, most beneficiaries will be assigned scheduled time slots to manage crowd flow more effectively.

Eligible individuals can secure an appointment through the official online registration link. Rice distribution runs from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday to Friday.

The PHP20 rice program is targeted at priority sectors, including senior citizens, persons with disabilities, solo parents, beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), farmers and fisherfolk registered under the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture, and public utility vehicle drivers.

The government is urging the public to cooperate with the new system to ensure a smooth, orderly, and equitable distribution of affordable rice, particularly for those who need it most.
