116 Davao de Oro farmers get fuel discount cards from DA

In Davao City, the Department of Agriculture in the Davao Region (DA-11) distributed fuel discount cards to 116 farmers from Davao de Oro to help ease rising fuel costs affecting agricultural operations.

The beneficiaries included farmers engaged in corn, rice, and high-value crops, with 78 coming from Monkayo, 23 from Montevista, 12 from Nabunturan, and three from New Bataan.

During the distribution in Nabunturan, DA-11 Regional Director Macario Gonzaga said the initiative reflects the agency’s commitment to delivering timely assistance to sustain agricultural productivity.

Each beneficiary received a DA Intervention Monitoring Card (IMC) loaded with ₱3,000, intended solely for fuel expenses such as powering tractors, irrigation pumps, and other farm machinery.

Gonzaga emphasized that the program also serves as a validation mechanism to ensure that government support reaches legitimate recipients with accuracy and transparency.

He added that the agency is strengthening its push toward farm mechanization as a long-term strategy to improve efficiency and resilience in the sector.

To remain eligible for assistance, farmers were reminded to comply with key requirements, including registration under the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA), active membership in farmer cooperatives or associations, and verified ownership or access to functional farm equipment.

The Fuel Discount Program is being implemented in partnership with the Development Bank of the Philippines, providing targeted support to farmers as they cope with increasing production costs.
