Governor Datu Pax Ali Mangudadatu signed Executive Order 112 on Tuesday, reviving the council as a proactive step to address concerns over increasing prices of petroleum products and other basic commodities in the province.
According to Mangudadatu, the move aims to ensure that prices of essential goods remain in line with government-regulated pricing while maintaining a stable supply of commodities in local markets.
The governor also said the council will help prevent hoarding of fuel and other goods, price manipulation, and unfair trading practices that may harm consumers.
Mangudadatu will chair the council, with the vice governor serving as vice chair.
Members of the PPSC include key provincial officials such as the provincial administrator, provincial agriculturist, provincial budget officer, economic development and investment promotion officer, and members of the Provincial Council who chair committees on energy, agriculture, trade and industry, and public works.
The council will also include the mayors of the province’s one city and 11 municipalities, as well as representatives from the Sultan Kudarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, transport groups, the Philippine National Police, the Army Mechanized Brigade, the Department of Trade and Industry, and the National Food Authority.
