Marcos Visits New Isabela Agri Facilities to Reduce Post-Harvest Losses

MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Thursday inspected newly completed post-harvest facilities in Ramon, Isabela, aimed at minimizing crop losses and boosting farmers’ incomes.

The facilities—located in Barangay Ambatali—include a warehouse with a multi-purpose drying pavement and an onion cold storage unit. These are expected to benefit about 1,500 farmers from Isabela and nearby Nueva Vizcaya.

The President was welcomed by hundreds of farmers during the visit, alongside Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. and other local officials.

According to the Department of Agriculture, the onion cold storage facility can hold up to 20,000 bags and help prevent spoilage of 4,000 to 7,000 bags. This is expected to support a more stable supply and better pricing throughout the year.

Meanwhile, the Ambatali warehouse and drying pavement can store up to 14,000 cavans of palay and handle as many as 3,625 sacks per drying cycle. The facility aims to reduce the practice of roadside drying, which often results in grain damage, safety hazards, and lower farm-gate prices.

The Department of Agriculture said these projects are part of ongoing efforts to modernize the agricultural sector, strengthen supply chains, and stabilize food prices.

In addition, the government continues to roll out support measures such as fuel and fertilizer subsidies, along with financial aid through the Presidential Assistance to Farmers, Fisherfolk, and Families program to help farmers cope with rising oil costs.
