The Department of Agriculture (DA) is urging the public to stay alert against misleading or inaccurate information بشأن the Swine Repopulation Project (SRP), emphasizing the importance of relying only on official sources.
Under Memorandum Circular No. 10, series of 2026, the SRP is a three-year initiative aimed at addressing the impacts of the African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreak. It complements earlier and ongoing DA efforts, including the Integrated National Swine Production Initiatives for Recovery and Expansion (INSPIRE) Program and the Swine Industry Recovery Project (SIRP).
The program seeks to rebuild and sustain the country’s swine population by establishing a structured breeder base system—from source farms to multiplier and production farms—while enforcing science-based and biosecure production practices. These measures are expected to help stabilize pork supply and prices, while strengthening the long-term resilience of the hog industry.
As part of its implementation, the project involves the procurement of gilts from accredited local breeder farms. These will be distributed to multiplier farms for breeding, with piglets later passed on to qualified beneficiaries. Each eligible multiplier farm may receive between 25 and 2,000 gilts under the program.
To avoid confusion and misinformation, the DA advises the public to consult only its official communication platforms for verified SRP guidelines and updates.
For inquiries, the public may also reach out to the DA-National Livestock Program through its official channels.
A copy of Memorandum Circular No. 10, series of 2026, will be made available on the DA website starting May 2, 2026, following its publication in a newspaper of general circulation.
