Over 7,300 Job Openings Available at Iloilo Labor Day Fair

ILOILO CITY — More than 7,300 job opportunities will be offered to jobseekers during the Labor Day job fair on May 1 at Robinsons Place Iloilo.

According to Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Western Visayas, a total of 7,329 vacancies are available from 79 participating employers, including 69 local companies and 10 overseas recruiters.

DOLE Western Visayas Technical Support and Services Division officer-in-charge Jorge Ferraris encouraged applicants to register online ahead of the event to streamline the application process.

The available positions span multiple industries, including administrative and support services, public administration, construction, wholesale and retail trade, manufacturing, finance, information and communication, hospitality, real estate, and agriculture, forestry, and fishing.

Participating government agencies will also set up a one-stop shop at the venue to assist applicants with documentary requirements.

In line with Labor Day activities, DOLE will distribute over PHP78.7 million in wages to 13,131 beneficiaries under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers program across the region.

Additional funding includes more than PHP15.4 million for the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program and over PHP2 million for the DOLE Adjustment Measures Program. Meanwhile, 315 interns will receive a total of PHP1.9 million in stipends through the Government Internship Program.

DOLE will also roll out the TUPAD Tuloy Pasada Program, benefiting 75 traditional jeepney drivers operating along the Buntatala/Tagbak to City Proper route who are not covered by the service contracting program of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

Assistant Regional Director Melisa Navara said the initiative aims to provide supplemental income to drivers to ensure continued public transport services. Qualified beneficiaries must be at least 18 years old, possess a valid professional driver’s license, and be listed by the LTFRB.

Participants will work six hours daily and receive the regional minimum wage of PHP550, along with microinsurance coverage.

Ahead of Labor Day, DOLE also held a fun run on April 25, which drew more than 700 participants.
